What will 2010 Bring?
Added 03/12/2009

With the year drawing to a close our thoughts turn to what 2010 has in store.

The Government’s Forward Programme has recently been published setting out some of the proposed changes to legislation and regulations. These changes will have an impact on businesses and are due to come into force by the end of April 2011.

We now know that the following changes are planned:

  • The ACAS Code of Practice on time off for Trade Union duties and activities – due in January 2010.
  • Regulations to outlaw Trade Union blacklists – expected some time between January and April 2010.
  • The Right to request take time off in order to train, for businesses with more than 250 employees – due April 2010.
  • The Apprenticeships Skills, Children and Learning Bill – scheduled for around September 2010.
  • The Equality Bill – anticipated to be around October 2010, but some sections of the duties, will come into force in April 2011.

We will, of course, provide updates on these matters in due course.
